How Milan changes with the return of Biglia
AC Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia has recovered. Coach Gennaro Gattuso can now count on extra alternatives for the midfield department.
Lucas Biglia is finally ready to return on the pitch. He was part of the squad list in last Sunday’s match at San Siro against Cagliari. The Argentine regista has fully recovered from a calf injury and should make his 2019 debut with Atalanta. He underwent surgery in November but fortunately things have gone as expected. Biglia returns but he will find a completely different Milan midfield.
Giacomo Bonaventura is out for the remaining of he season and new arrival Lucas Paqueta has taken his place while in front of the defense Bakayoko is doing very well. The French has transformed from a mysterious object to a pillar of the starting eleven.
But how could Milan change now with the return of Biglia? Tuttosport explains that with the former Lazio on the pitch we could see four different versions of the Milan midfield. First, with Biglia in front of the defense, Gattuso could opt for two very physical teammates such as Kessie and Bakayoko, while the second option foresees the presence of Paqueta and one between Bakayoko and Kessie. The third hypothesis is that of a two-man midfield with Biglia and Bakayoko behind three trequartisti and a striker or a 4-4-2 lineup.
There is then a last possible variation of Milan with Biglia in the starting eleven and that is the use of a diamond-shaped midfield that in the past has brought so much luck to the Rossoneri club. In the 4-3-1-2, the Argentine would play in front of the defense, while up front we could see Cutrone and Piatek together behind an attacking midfielder (Paqueta, Suso or Calhanoglu). In short, with the recovery of Lucas, Gattuso will finally have valid alternatives even in midfield.
